Matt Egler is 25 years old and is fighting Pleuropulmonary Blastoma, a rare aggressive pediatric cancer. Matt is a believer in the Lord and worships at Mission Church in Roselle Illinois. 

In May 2015 after having a persistent cough for 4 months a large mass was discovered in Matt’s chest. Biopsies revealed it was a rare aggressive pediatric cancer. Matt had to leave his job as an animator to move home for specialized treatment and tests. In 2015 Matt traveled to and from Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for treatment and tests and had to move there for six weeks for radiation therapy. In April 2016 after the cancer continued to grow through chemotherapy his treatment needed to be moved to New York City to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Matt had to move to New York City for 9 weeks for surgery and chemotherapy. His treatment is anticipated to continue at least through the rest of 2016.

Due to the cancer being rare, special treatments and tests have had and continue to be done that are not always covered by insurance. Matt has also had to incur significant travel and lodging expenses to be treated at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City.
